For the 1978 black comedy film, see Olly Olly Oxen Free (film).
Olly olly oxen free is a phrase used in children's games, which is generally used to indicate that people who are hiding (in a game of hide and seek, for example) can safely come out into the open.

[edit] Origin
The exact origin of the phrase is unknown, but etymologists suspect it is a childish corruption of the German "Alle, alle auch sind frei!", (literally, "Everyone, everyone also is free!"), which is purported to have been a cruel joke often played upon Holocaust victims by their jailers. At any particular time, a prisoner might be released, immediately upon which the phrase would be shouted. Any other prisoners who also left would be killed further down the road by Nazi soldiers.[citation needed]

William Cartel. History of Germany. Revised and Expanded. 1815-1990.
The etymology above is highly suspect, though ingenious, as the phrase was almost certainly in use long before WWII.[citation needed] The phrase referred to is also not proper German. That would be "Alle, alle sind auch frei!" or better "Alle anderen sind auch frei!" (Everyone else is also free).
Another theory is that it is a corruption of the phrase, "calling all the outs in free".
[edit] Use
The phrase can also be used to coordinate hidden players in the game "kick the can", where a group of children hide within a given radius and a "seeker" is left to guard a can filled with rocks. The seeker has to try to find the "hiders" without allowing them to sneak in and kick the can. In many areas the phrase used is "Ally Ally In Come Free" which is a way to tell all hidden that is time to start the game of trying to get in to the can without being caught. Another phrase that has a similar meaning and possibly similar root is "come out, come out, wherever you are."

It's October
Well, I want to see some good ones this year. So everyone give some ideas. Let me know what we should watch this year. We watched Army of Darkness A couple of nights a go. That really isn't scary at all. It is a funny movie though.

Thank you Scarlet for answering my question
The Question was ... What is St. Elmo's Fire?
~*~*~
St. Elmo's fire is an electrical weather phenomenon in which luminous plasma is created by a coronal discharge originating from a grounded object in an atmospheric electric field (such as those generated by thunderstorms or thunderstorms created by a volcanic explosion).
St. Elmo's fire is named after St. Erasmus of Formiae (also called St. Elmo), the patron saint of sailors. The phenomenon sometimes appeared on ships at sea during thunderstorms, and was regarded by sailors with superstitious awe, accounting for the name. Alternatively, Peter Gonzalez is said to be the St. Elmo after whom St. Elmo's fire has its name.
Ball lightning is often erroneously identified as St. Elmo's fire. They are separate and distinct meteorological phenomena.
Physically, St. Elmo's fire is a bright blue or violet glow, appearing like fire in some circumstances, from tall, sharply pointed structures such as lightning rods, masts, spires and chimneys, and on aircraft wings. St. Elmo's fire can also appear on leaves, grass, and even at the tips of cattle horns.Often accompanying the glow is a distinct hissing or buzzing sound.
In 1750, Benjamin Franklin hypothesized that a pointed iron rod during a lightning storm would light up at the tip, similar in appearance to St. Elmo's fire.

In Honor of the X-Files...
With the New X-Files Movie Opening Today. I thought that Fox Mulder has a nick name. They call him “Spooky Mulder.” Now I should’ve stated earlier that Scarlet introduced me to The X-files. I really only watched it very little. She is a giant fan. I tease her more then I should about the fact that She didn't cry once at or wedding. She did how ever cry when “The Lone Gunmen” died. Anyway, I thought that all the die hard fans should have nick names too. Therefore Scarlet’s new nick name is (dramatic pause) “Ominous Evans.” I got one to “Eerie Evans.” You can all laugh all you want because so are we. We are going to go see the Movie Today after work. I am sure Scarlet will let everyone know how it was.

i was so excited when i took this photo. you can't tell but Anon had actually rushed the field. that's Right, he lept from the upper deck. Then ran down the stairs on to the field. I am soory, eh(Canadian for sorry) the picture didn't turn out. We were there for the first ever call change in AFL history. (pause for dramatic silence.) The coach for Colorado didn't like a call, so he challenged it. That meet he got his touch down. The Blazed played like Jr pee wee players, and lost the game. It was still a good time.

Wow! I wrote something!
Last of all I heard from a old friend again. I owe him a apology. I am sorry I got so upset with him. Our last meeting, not this last one, but a while ago up set me. Which was my problem. He has no idea how much he taught me, just by being him. He really is a great person, and I apologize again. Lots of other things happened, but I can't remember. That means I am going to stop. I know hold the applause. Here is a thought I am going to leave you with. "The noblest service comes from nameless hands, and the best servant does his work unseen." Oliver Wendell Holmes.
